Will Taylor and Strings Attached will reinvent the music of The Police with John Pointer live beneath the oak trees at the Nutty Brown Café this Saturday.
Will Taylor and Strings Attached is an Austin musical institution. They began 10 years ago collaborating with musical giants like Shawn Colvin, Bob Schneider and Pearl Jam. Part of their repertoire includes classic Album/Band tribute shows, intelligently and inquisitively interpreted – paying homage to the music while presenting with a completely original approach.
John Pointer has been active in the Austin music scene since the 90’s. Along the way he’s racked up ten Austin Music Awards, released nine independent records, appeared in seven television commercials as a human beatbox, had starring roles in Jesus Christ Superstar and RENT and has had January 27th proclaimed “John Pointer Day” by the Austin Mayor and City Council.
Immediately following the this show, Strings Attached will host a Benefit Concert for Wildfire Victims at 9pm.
This second show will include Jon Dee Grahm, Robert Ash Kraft, Steve Carter, Karen Mal, Tameca Jones, and others still to be announced.
A minimum donation of $10 gets you in with all proceeds going to benefit the Travis County Red Cross.
Item donations will also be accepted at the show.
John Pointer has been active in the Austin music scene since the mid '90s. With ten Austin Music Awards, nine independently released records, seven national television commercials as a human beatbox, starring roles in Jesus Christ Superstar and RENT, and January 27th proclaimed "John Pointer Day" in Austin by the mayor and City Council, he is still just working every day like every other musician.
Listen to John's beatboxing and Will's violin below:
"Once again, very magical and heart felt music, we can feel it when it comes from your hearts, because like tuning, it strikes our chords as well and moves us." - Dan
"Will Taylor has a musical proposition for you -- a playful, dignified, off-kilter idea that brings honor to Austin's identity as 'The Live Music Capital of the World.' It's a cool concept. But it's just a bit . . . different."
